  • Start with ‘Why?’

Every new business or organization starts with an idea. Behind this idea is a vision of what an organization will look like if it has the right structure, the right leadership, enough money, and a group of people who believe in the vision. Vision describes the goals of the organization and the importance of its existence.

A vision statement is more than an exercise. It defines the core reasons for the existence of the company and makes the work more meaningful. A vision statement often helps to attracts enthusiastic and like-minded employees. It is easier for enterprises to establish an appropriate organizational culture around the vision statement and strive to strengthen it. A corporate vision statement gives everyone a clear view of the big picture, laying the foundation for improved decision-making and targeting the right customers.

  • Two Common Issues if without a vision statement

I’m not saying that without a vision statement, your company will be issues free, but it certainly does help. Here are two common issues a company can fail without a vision statement:

Recruitment:

Use your vision statement to identify the types of people you want and don’t want, so you “see and know.”. If the element of your mission statement is about curiosity, it’s a mistake to hire someone more like “steady Eddie” who just wants to come in without having to figure out the truth, once a day. Similarly, organizations that value cooperation and embody the nature of cooperation in their mission statements will drive lone wolf crazy, and vice versa. Some of our clients even put their mission and values on all job descriptions so that potential job seekers can know in advance who they are dealing with.

Firing people:

It’s hard work to pick the right person for your company. while you don’t have to fire customers who are not suitable for you, you must start actively looking for customers who can “catch” you and are willing to help others. It’s possible! Over time, the good workers’ Union pushes the bad employees out. Customers who fit in with you and your mission will pay more (because they really get value from what you do), need less time (because they value the time they get), and will recommend you to others because you have changed their lives.

  • The relationship between the vision statement and culture of ethics

In many enterprises, vision statement and moral culture are interrelated, because the former often drives the latter. Corporate culture is the concept, belief and values that an enterprise strives to create in the working environment and employees. Ethics are often an important part of a company’s culture. In order to build a strong universal ethical culture, a company can create a vision statement that directly cites ethics.

Examples of businesses’ vision statements

What is the ideal state of your health system? If you can answer this question in one sentence, you create a vision. The best vision statement is simple and related to their culture. Let’s learn from some organizations that have done well in this area:

Alzheimer’s Association: our vision is a world without Alzheimer’s disease.

Cleveland Clinic: strive to be the world’s leading patient experience, clinical outcomes, research and education.

The wounded soldier program: to train the most successful and adaptable generation of wounded in the history of our country.

The vision statement usually contains the goals of the health system and direct employees to follow the culture of ethics.
